Free CoffeeYou know, the kids aren't the only ones gearing up for back-to-school time. In the rush to buy everyone the right lunchbox and backpack we forget that our mornings are about to get rocked as well. So we're thrilled to post today's SweetFind: a little back-to-school treat for mom's mornings. It's the newest freebie offer from Gevalia Kaffe, this time including a stainless steel travel mug to help get you through carpool and three boxes of coffee to get you through your first meeting You'll pay $3 for shipping, and can't get the deal if you've ordered from Gevalia in the past six months. Also you're signing up for future coffee deliveries, so if you don't want them you need to remember to cancel the membership after your gifts arrive. We've participated in these giveaways before and have had zero issues opting out of future deliveries. So go grab a little something for you! More Info!
Free PancakesIHOP is giving families one heck of a back-to-school treat this year! Now through September 13 kids eat free at IHOP every single night. (Read our Kids Eat Free article for more deals!) We're in love with this promotion because it's just the time of year parents could use a night off. But with purse strings duly tightened it's tough to schedule as many evenings out as we might like. Now IHOP's come to the rescue, with a giveaway they say will let families "break out of their routine without breaking the bank." The skinny is that every night through September 13, families can score a free kid's meal with each adult entree purchased, for children 12 and under. You'll need to dine in, and the deal's only available at participating locations, so be sure to call first before you make your dinner plans. More Info!
Free ShakesToday we are pretty excited about a sweepstakes we just entered, not because of the prize, but because of the printable coupon we got just for signing up. That would be a coupon for a free shake at Johnny Rockets with the purchase of an entree. The sweeps is to promote the new remake of the movie Fame, and one winner will walk away with two tickets to a screening in Vegas. But everyone who enters gets the free shake, which doesn't require going through airport security. So click, print and enjoy! More Info!
Free ChocolateHere's one more reason to chant TGIF: this summer Mars is giving away a limited number of free full-size candy bars every Friday. They're calling it the Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act, and every week through the end of September they'll make 250,000 full-value coupons available to be claimed. Log on after 9am EST and sign up to have yours mailed to you. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are good for any full-size Mars chocolate product, such as Snickers, Twix, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers and M&Ms. And what if they're all out of freebies by the time you get there? There's always next week! More Info!

Ace Hardware $5 off $10 coupon!

My hubby is home this week on a "Home Improvement Vacation" so it was out to lunch, then Lowe's then a stop at Ace Hardware. He came out with a phone survey coupon voucher for $5 off a $10 purchase! All we had to do was call in, answer a few questions about our experiences with Ace and we were given a code to write in the coupon validating it! Perfect timing too because they are in their Dollar Days!! With coupons, I am going to clean house - literally as most of their great deals are on household cleaning supplies!!

Fashion Frugality

How many of you have a closet full of clothes but have nothing to wear? Do you have items hanging in your closet that you don’t have anything to wear with or still have the tags on? What about that drawer full of useless makeup that turned out not to be the right color for you? How much do you think this wastefulness costs you each year? Well consider that, “on average, women spend about $2,000 per year on clothes and about 150 hours per year shopping for them”, says Personal Image Consultant Brenda Sherwood of Comin’ Up Roses.
I attended one of Brenda’s FREE Image Workshops recently and also employed her shopping assistance service and am ecstatic about the results. During the workshop Brenda covered how knowing the basic components that make up your total image and sticking to those guidelines for your personal type will save you money, time and frustration.
Basic Components of Image:
Color: Everyone looks best in different colors. There is a distinct different between warm and cool tones on the color wheel.
Skincare/Makeup : Take care of your skin! Use proper makeup colors and application based on your features and personality.
Face Shape: There are 8 basic shapes with various combinations: Round, Square, Rectangle, Pear, Oblong, Heart, Diamond, and Oval. It is the basis for the proper hairstyle and frames for your face, along with your personality.
Body Type: There are 6 basic types with countless combinations: Pear, Heart, Curved (figure 8), Ellipse, Angular, and Straight. Knowing your body type will you camouflage your figure flaws and show off your best “assets”.
Fashion Personality: There are 6 personality styles along with different combinations such as Classic, Dramatic, Romantic, Ingenue (innocence), Natural, and Gamin (homely). Learn how to dress for your personality by using fashion and accessories.
Wardrobing/Lifestyle: Knowing and having in your closet clothes and accessories that meet your lifestyle needs and how to put it all together pulls your total image together perfectly.
Familiarizing yourself with these basic components you will have a look that is totally you, one that projects who you really are, and you will learn how to save a ton of time and money!
How will it save you? “Everything in your wardrobe will now coordinate. When you shop, you will automatically pass over things that aren’t in your color or style. Why even try something on that you know doesn’t follow your image guidelines? There won’t be any more of those mistakes hanging in the closet or lying in your makeup drawer”, says Brenda. I found this to be true during our shopping trip. When I tried on clothes in my color and style, I looked fabulous! Now, when I practice these methods, I get complimented even in a t-shirt because it is in my color palette and I wear it with complimenting skirt and the right accessories!! The best part is that I don’t have to shop high end department stores to look like a million bucks. I still shop at my local thrift and consignment shops but have a flattering, trendy and, most importantly, affordable look!
Brenda also suggests that you carry these concepts over into your home and everything in your life! “I have found that my clients experience a complete life makeover because they have a distinguished image of who they really are. For example, I’m a romantic – it flows throughout my whole life from my wardrobe, to my home décor and marriage,” explains Brenda.

Cincinnati Enquirer Interview Today!!

I had the most fabulous time this morning! I got to go Krogering with David Holthaus, the Business Journalist & Procter & Gamble reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer. A wonderful photographer, Malinda Hartong was on hand to snap ALOT of pics of me choosing groceries, pulling coupons from my coupon book a.ka. weapons of mass destruction binder, and checking out. I also got to see pics of her lovely pooches!! We met at the Landen Kroger located on 22 and 3. Charlie Harmon, Store Manager, greeted & welcomed us in, checked on us periodically and assisted with questions and concerns throughout the morning.

David wanted to see me do a "normal" shopping trip. David asked questions on everything I picked off or left on the shelves. I got to share not only my shopping philosophy but also my strategies!! (I LOVE MY JOB!!)

Before the interview I got a HOT EXCLUSIVE tip from David regarding Procter & Gamble. Per an August 5, 2009 webcast, P&G announced they will be slashing prices in order to compete with store brands!! During our shopping interview he pointed out that the Always Infinity was one of the first already slashed!! Kroger has them on sale for $2.77. Use the $1 off coupon from the 8/2 P&G coupon insert and load a $.50 off ecoupon at www.pgesaver.com to make these only $1.27!!!

The article will run 2 Sundays from now, the 28th! How fitting! There will be 3 coupon inserts on that day!! P & G, SmartSource & RedPlum. I am SOO excited!!

Delicious Julie & Julia Review

My excitement over the movie Julie & Julia was not disappointed! Myself and two of my very best friends went to see it last night. The theatre was filled with laughter and oohs and aahs over the food prepared throughout the entire movie . I won't spoil it for you by giving quips of the movie (or very many) but will just say, this is a must see for anyone interested in entrepreneurship and/or blogging and need inspiration along with a dose of reality! This is not just a chic flick. I think it would make a perfect date movie as well.

If you haven't seen the trailer or read the review here it is...http://www.julieandjulia.com/

The amazing comparisons to each of our lives (mine far right in picture, Brenda on the left and Niki in the middle) was remarkable! Histarically, in the very beginning of the movie Julie announces she believes she has ADD because she can't seem to complete anything. My friend Niki & I rolled as I recalled the Adult ADD email she had recently sent me! If you have not read this yet, comment and I will post it or email it to you.

When I first discovered this movie was coming to the big screen, I was intensely drawn to it. I am starting a business myself (http://www.couponbootcamp.com/) and looking for my destiny. So to see the 8 year toil of Julia, knowing she was 50 when her cookbook got published and how Julie remarkably started something she had passion for on her own and how it grew to a movie was just the shot of hope I needed.

Amazingly similar to the movie is the fact that my friend Brenda who joined me has begun her first book. I was so excited with and for her, knowing she too will experience the same success as Julie & Julia!Even my girlfriend Niki had once shared with me that she has a large collection of her grandmother's recipes that she would love to publish! I hope she dares to do so!! Niki's thoughts on the movie, "As a busy mother of 6, if I give up $10 hard earned dollars and 2 full hours of my time for a movie, it had better be worth it!! This movie definitely was!! Funny, warm and inspiring all in one!"

Brenda had this to say about the film, " Julie & Julia was a deliciously delightful combination of inspiration, romance, and comedy. At times I wanted to stand up and cheer, while at other times I wanted to go home and plant a big kiss on my husband because I connected with the married love affair of Julia and Paul! The movie was totally adorable and well done. The characters were loveable, yet real, and the sets were beautiful and drew you right into the room. Each scene gently transitioned you from the life of one character to the other without skipping a beat or leaving you confused. I could completely relate with both characters in what they were going through and I believe that most women will. I was totally inspired and I have already put the word out to friends that it's a "must see" movie! Now I know I better get in gear and get my copy of Julia's cookbook because I know they will be flying off the shelf! "

We each agreed it was a splendidly delicious movie! We each also concur that we have got to get Mastering the Art of French Cooking cookbook, not just for the recipes!! Watch the movie & you'll see why! LOL

A bit about the actors. Meryl Streep has yet to disappoint me. Her phenomenal portrayal of Julia Child's was heartwarming. I love how the author captured the whimsical side of Julia and chose to emphasize that through this film. Amy Adams was real, believable and fantastic! But my favorite character, Paul Child was played by Stanley Tucci. Stanley seemed to have a permanent smile on his face that added an irresistible charm and insight to who the man behind the legend truly was. Incredibly he brings to light a beautifully romantic view of their marriage.

This is a new favorite movie of mine and will be joining my collection as soon as it hits the shelves. I may even see it in the theatre again, this time with my hubby!!

Bon Appetit!
